About this site

I’m Florian Sollami, an AI Staff Engineer based in Brussels.
I’ve spent the last 8+ years building scalable backend systems, from early architecture to production, across domains like payments, insurance, and large-scale commerce platforms. I focus on pragmatic engineering, clean architecture, and delivering systems that actually work in real-world conditions.
Today, I work at SFEIR, where I help teams turn AI from experimentation into practical, production-ready systems. My work spans backend architecture, GenAI applications, and distributed systems, with a strong emphasis on execution, simplicity, and real impact.
Previously, I worked on high-scale systems at Qover and Leroy Merlin, designing microservices handling payments, claims, and large-scale product data. I’ve led the transition of core platforms toward scalable, customer-centric architectures, processing millions of API calls and large volumes of event-driven data.
I write about software engineering, AI, and building systems that scale — sharing lessons learned, technical deep dives, and practical insights from real projects.
Tech I work with
TypeScript, Python, NestJS, FastAPI, Kafka, PostgreSQL, MongoDB, GCP, Docker, Kubernetes, and modern GenAI tooling (LLMs, orchestration, observability).
